It's A Revolution Mother! (1969)

Every Weekend the CBS Late Show becomes Counter Culture Theatre playing the best in 60's and early 70's Counter Culture and anti-establishment films. This weekend we screen 'It's A Revolution Mother!" from 1969.

This documentary depicts the wild swinging youth scene of the turbulent 60’s, with in-depth footage of hippies doing a protest march against the Vietnam war in Washington, D.C., a rowdy New Jersey biker club called the Aliens letting it all hang out, and kids having themselves a groovy good time at a funky Florida rock festival.

COUNTER CULTURE THEATRE 2024

Based on Harlan Ellison's novella of the same name from 1969, A Boy and His Dog should go down as the most underrated movie ever made that revolves around an apocalypse. In this case, the landscape is a post-apocalyptic southern United States, set in 2024 as the titular duo work in tandem to survive the harsh realities they've become acquainted with. The boy's name is Vic, while his pooch's name is Blood. And in premise, A Boy and His Dog stands out from most other stories of its kind for featuring the concept of telepathy.

A NEW COUNTER CULTURE THEATRE

For the adult minded.

"Hallucination Generation" is a 1966 exploitation film directed by Edward Mann. It was produced by George Atkinson and is considered a part of the counterculture cinema movement of the 1960s. The film explores themes of drug use, rebellion, and social unrest, typical of many movies from that era. "Hallucination Generation" tells the story of a group of young people who become involved in the underground drug culture of Los Angeles. The film follows the characters as they experiment with LSD and other mind-altering substances, leading to various hallucinations and encounters with dangerous situations. I have created a fictional soundtrack album for it as well.  Press Play below and go full screen.

Welcome to the "Hallucination Generation" soundtrack, a sonic journey through the psychedelic realms of the counterculture era. This album captures the spirit of rebellion, exploration, and mind-altering experiences that defined a generation in the 1960s. As you delve into this auditory tapestry, be prepared to embark on a kaleidoscopic adventure. The music within reflects the cultural revolution and the search for transcendence that permeated the zeitgeist of the time. From the hazy realms of acid-rock to the introspective melodies of folk, these songs encapsulate the spirit of a generation breaking free from the confines of societal norms.

THE ERIE CANAL AND SODA POP MUSIC FESTIVAL 1972 50th ANNIVERSARY

Grab your sleeping bag, canteen full of water, backpack full of snacks, a blanket and join Rod Eclectic Rod is bringing the Boone's Farm, tent, toilet paper and the tunes. Don't worry about tickets this is 1972 and capitalism and music are just dating and haven't gotten serious yet.

The Erie Canal Soda Pop Festival was a rock festival held on the Labor Day weekend of 1972 near Griffin, Indiana on Bull Island. A crowd estimated at 200,000 to 300,000 attended the concert, four times what the promoters estimated. Food and water were in short supply, and the gathering descended into relative chaos. After the show was finished, remnants of the crowd burned the main stage.
It was a glorious disaster.

Virtual DJ Rod Eclectic the host of the Late Late Freak-Out! Radio Show with a playlist dedicated to bands that were scheduled to appear at the festival (some actually did) to celebrate the 50th anniversary featuring music from the records the bands were likely out promoting in 1972.
